ATA pilot ‘Spitfire Mary’ Ellis dies

During the Second World War Mary Ellis ferried 700 Spitfires, and many heavy bombers, between factory and airfield, always without comms of weapons and sometimes in skies that invaded by the Luftwaffe. I was lucky to meet her, but very sad to have to report her death today for Sky News.
